Grass Pollinating 1

Pollen it’s everywhere!

In the summer 2014 issue of Montana Parent magazine, I review the finer points of pollen.

I highlight the following:

Pollen:

  • How big is it?
  • Where does it come from?
  • Where is it found?
  • How can one avoid pollen? Let’s be practical, this is NOT easy, but there are some basic measures that can help.

Treatment options: What are the most current treatments available for children?

  • Antihistamines
  • Decongestants
  • Nasal steroid sprays
  • Montelukast (Singulair®)
  • Allergy shots (injections) aka allergen immunotherapy
  • And yes, new for 2014, the new allergy grass tablets used for oral immunotherapy rather than shots!

At Family Allergy & Asthma Care of Montana, we want our families and patients to know what is currently available. We can assist in finding the right treatment for the right individual at the right time.
